Rutger Hauer's life and legacy take center stage in Like Tears in Rain, a feature documentary offering an intimate look at the actor behind iconic roles in Blade Runner, The Hitcher, and Batman Begins.
Directed by his goddaughter Sanna Fabery de Jonge, the film draws from Hauer's personal archive, showcasing never-before-seen footage filmed throughout his life. The documentary reveals candid moments from his time in Friesland, on his boat, and behind the scenes on movie sets. It also highlights his lifelong devotion to his wife Ineke and his close relationships with friends and collaborators.
The film includes interviews with family, friends, and industry figures such as Whoopi Goldberg, Paul Verhoeven, Vincent D'Onofrio, Robert Rodriguez, Miranda Richardson, and Anton Corbijn. Their insights offer a deeper understanding of Hauer's life, both on and off screen.
Presented in English and Dutch with subtitles, this 80-minute documentary premieres exclusively on Viaplay in the UK through Amazon Prime Video Channels on 10 March.
