Step into the twisted world of "The Coffee Table" (aka La Mesita), a spine-chilling horror experience from Spain that's ready to send shivers down your spine. Directed by Caye Casas (known for "Killing God") and co-written with Cristina Borobia, this film has already made waves on the festival circuit and is gearing up for its UK debut, courtesy of Second Sight Films.
Described as "An unsettling descent into absolute madness and misery" by Guy at the Movies, and hailed as "A genre-leaping marvel" by Projected Figures, "The Coffee Table" promises to be a rollercoaster ride of emotions. Set for digital release on 20 May 2024, this film is not for the faint of heart.
David Pareja ("Amigo") and Estefanía de los Santos ("Jaulas") deliver jaw-dropping performances as Jesus and María, a couple grappling with the strains of a newborn baby on their relationship. Their journey takes a dark turn during a seemingly innocuous shopping trip for furniture, where a simple disagreement over a coffee table spirals into a tragic event that will haunt them forever.
Joined by Josep Maria Riera, Claudia Riera, and Eduardo Antuña, "The Coffee Table" promises an excruciatingly uncomfortable experience with a pitch-black sense of humor. Critics have hailed it as "an unrelenting, bleak domestic drama" (Screen Zealots) and "an exercise in dread and empathy" (Scully Vision).
Prepare yourself for a harrowing ride into the depths of human darkness with "The Coffee Table." But be warned: once you sit down with this film, you may never look at your furniture the same way again.
