Mike Colter (Evil, Luke Cage) delivers a standout performance in I'm Charlie Walker, an uplifting and powerful new feature set for its UK digital debut on 11 November 2024, courtesy of Miracle Media. Directed by Patrick Gilles (Olive), this inspirational film brings to life the incredible true story of Charlie Walker, a savvy Black entrepreneur who defies the odds to take on a heroic recovery mission after an environmental disaster.
Set against the turbulent backdrop of 1971 America, where racial tensions are at their peak and anti-Vietnam War protests are raging, the film is a timely reminder of perseverance in the face of overwhelming adversity. At the heart of the drama is a catastrophic oil spill off the coast of San Francisco, which devastates the environment and throws Walker into the midst of a high-stakes struggle.
Colter's Charlie Walker finds himself with just three trucks, a monumental task, and even more to prove. Against the backdrop of a negligent oil company and determined eco-activists, Walker secures one of the largest contracts to clean up the coast, but his battle is more than just environmental. He's fighting to support his family, maintain his home, and prove that determination and resourcefulness can overcome prejudice and systemic racism.

Its portrayal of racial injustice, ecological crisis, and individual resilience shines a light on a lesser-known historical moment, and how one man's determination can change the course of history.
