Review by Jon Donnis
"Sniper: G.R.I.T - Global Response & Intelligence Team" is the latest installment in the long-running "Sniper" franchise, and while it may not reinvent the wheel, it delivers what fans of the series have come to expect – action-packed thrills with some added humor.
"When an international terrorist cult threatens global political stability and kidnaps a fellow agent, Ace Sniper Brandon Beckett (Chad Michael Collins) and the newly-formed Global Response & Intelligence Team – or G.R.I.T. – led by Colonel Stone (Dennis Haysbert) must travel across the world to Malta, infiltrate the cult, and take out its leader to free Lady Death (Luna Fujimoto) and stop the global threat."
One of the standout features of the movie is the stunning scenery of Malta. The excellent camera work and drone shots bring out the beauty of the location, giving the film a big-budget feel. The cinematography adds to the overall visual appeal of the movie.
While the story may not be groundbreaking, it serves its purpose. The action sequences are where the film truly shines, providing the adrenaline rush and excitement that fans of the franchise crave. There are some unique sniper kills that add a layer of creativity to the action, even though some moments require viewers to suspend their disbelief when a target survives a direct headshot.
The cast, including Chad Michael Collins, Ryan Robbins, and Dennis Haysbert, do a commendable job in their roles, ensuring the film's characters are engaging and relatable. The addition of Luna Fujimoto as Lady Death adds depth to the narrative.
"Sniper: G.R.I.T" boasts good production value, and there's a level of fun and one liners that add a touch of humor here and there, which will leave the audience smiling. This blend of action and humor gives the film a unique flavor within the action-thriller genre.
In the end, "Sniper: G.R.I.T - Global Response & Intelligence Team" sticks to a formula that works, providing mindless but entertaining shoot 'em up action with a hint of humor. It may not be the most groundbreaking entry in the franchise, but it's a solid addition for fans of action thrillers. If you're looking for a dose of gory, action-packed entertainment, this film is worth a watch.
With a final score of 7 out of 10, this film is a decent sequel and addition to the franchise.
